We regret to inform our Amsterdam Tigers ice hockey community that Alexander Karol, who has been a dedicated player for our club over the past three seasons, has accepted a 22-month suspension for an anti-doping rule violation.
While the Doping Authority, the national anti-doping organisation in the Netherlands, confirmed that this violation was unintentional—caused by heart medication prescribed by his doctor in Belarus for a legitimate therapeutic purpose, rules are rules, and Alexander won’t be eligible to return to the ice until January 2026.
This situation serves as an important reminder to all our players, especially the younger ones, to be vigilant about what they consume, also when it is involves medication prescribed by a doctor. Let’s use this as a lesson to educate ourselves and ensure we maintain the integrity of our sport.
We want to thank Alexander for his co-operation throughout this process and we support him as he navigates this challenging time. We look forward to seeing him back on the ice in 2026. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Alexander and the Amsterdam Tigers will not have any further comment on this process. Please address any inquiries to: voorzitter@amsterdamtigers.com.
